Hi Ladies and Gentlemen,
There will be a workshop on Evaluating Resources for Assignments: How and Why on Tuesday February 17th from 1:00 to 2:00 in the Writing Centre on the fourth floor of the library.
This workshop will combine the criteria for evaluating print and online resources with doing an assignment:
choosing a rhetorical structure (argument, problem-solution-evaluation,
chronological development, process, comparison/contrast), making an
outline, and developing a thesis statement.
By
finding and evaluating the most authoritative resources for your
assignment, choosing a thesis statement and a plan to develop the thesis
becomes clearer. Giving yourself an authoritative voice should also improve the quality of your work.
In summary, this workshop will take a pragmatic approach to evaluating resources by using the evaluation criteria generated to do an assignment.
